Sail & Trail Run Lofoten

7 days of sailing and Running IN NORTHERN NORWAYay

We invite you aboard our expedition sailing vessel “Moondance” for an exceptional sailing and running experience in Northern Norway.
Between June and August, the rocky islands of Lofoten and Steigen are bathed in constant daylight by the Midnight Sun. This means lots of opportunities for island-hopping and boat access only spots while you’re gliding through straits and fjords with the wind in your sails. Experience the dramatic beauty of Norway’s glacier-carved landscapes aboard Moondance.

Explore breathtaking nature, crystal-clear waters, and unique wildlife. The possibilities are endless: hone your sailing skills, trail run, enjoy a relaxing detox/escape from your daily routine, fish your own dinner, visit museums and much more.

We organize these trips together with our trusted partners MST and Pure Trails.

The optimal summer season in the Lofoten Islands begins in June and concludes in August. During this period, temperatures range from 14 to 24 degrees Celsius. Throughout the year, it is the ideal time for exploring the Lofoten Islands by ship during the summer season, although the weather can change rapidly in Northern Norway. In June and July, the sun barely sets, offering ample opportunities for a delightful daily itinerary.

The point of embarkation and disembarkation for this journey is Bodø Harbour. You can conveniently reach Bodø by flying from Oslo. YOUR STAY

Moondance, a 56ft Koopmans, draws its design inspiration from Dick Koopmans’ sailing ship “De Jager,” winner of the “Round of Britain 2006” and “Cold Handed Cup 2007.” This makes Moondance a truly exceptional vessel, purpose-built for expeditions and the unforgiving Arctic. With its lofty central lounge, comfy accommodations for nine, an array of heaters, a well-appointed bathroom inc. shower, and generous storage, Moondance combines adventure and comfort in one package, promising unforgettable journeys on the high seas.

How is life on board?

A sailing trip with Moondance Expeditions is a unique vacation. We are dependent on the elements, which requires a flexible attitude towards the program, the people, and expectations. In principle, we take the lead and initiative in everything. The captain guides you in their choices and asks for input. Based on our experience, guests feel more involved when they can participate in everyday activities on board. We always ask for a flexible and proactive attitude. The space can sometimes feel small, which is why we will regularly check in with you to ensure everything is meeting your expectations.
